Bar Governors Ask Court to Suspend Hallinan for Year: The recommendation was based on a finding that attorney Vincent Hallinan did "simulate and imitate" the signature of a client in a $40,000 estate suit settlement. — May 27

Three members of the supervisors' public utilities committee unanimously approved a proposal for establishment of a separate commission to operate San Francisco's Municipal Railway. — May 27

Truman Bans Race Barriers in Armed Units, Government: President Truman set up an "FEPC" (Fair Employment Practices Commission) for Federal Government employes and ordered a drive against racial discrimination in the armed forces. — July 26

The newly organized city government of Millbrae flexed its muscles yesterday. With San Mateo County Sheriff James J. McGrath no longer responsible for law enforcement in the community, the town's new police force acted to clean up what is known as one of the county's hot spots for gambling. — Oct. 8

Buyers' Market Looms In Automobile World: With the adoption of Regulation W September 20, requiring one-third down on installment sales and a limit of eighteen months on the balance, the picture in the automobile industry has undergone a quick change. Prices on used cars have dropped sharply. And the new car buyer wanting a higher priced car can walk into almost any showroom and be certain of early delivery. — Dec. 12
