Localites bound for Europe include Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer Fleishhacker Jr. and their sons, Mortimer III and David, who left via air for New York. The family group will sail for Europe for an extended tour of Switzerland, France and England and they will be joined in the early summer by their daughter, Delia, who is now attending school in New York. First parachute jump off Golden Gate Bridge: Frustrated in a half-hearted attempt three weeks ago and jailed for disturbing the peace and creating a public nuisance, Robert Niles yesterday eluded California Highway patrolmen on the bridge, hit the water feet first after his chute had blossomed on a brisk wind, was picked up by a waiting boat and brief moments later was jailed again after Coast Guard craft moved in. Billie Holiday, blues singer, was acquitted by a jury of six men and six women on a charge of possessing narcotics. Miss Holiday and former manager John Levy were arrested in a Taylor Street hotel last January. Levy, however, was not brought to trial. June 4
California-born Tokyo Rose, sentenced in San Francisco to 10 years for wartime radio broadcasts made with intent to betray her native land by undermining the morale of the troops, was sent to federal reformatory to join Axis Sally, her counterpart in the European war theater. Oct. 7
Hand in hand as they did years ago when they were just a boy and girl Yehudi Menuhin and his sister, Hepzibah, came out of the wings on the Opera House stage in curtain call after curtain call last night. Yehudi's violinistic genius has steadily enriched our musical scene for a quarter of a century. Hepzibah made her first mark as a pianist almost as long ago as that. Dec. 29
