Seeded/sub-seeded runners
Divisions and qualifying times
  • Elite runners (numbers 1-50): World-class runners. By invitation only.

  • Seeded runners (51-400) / Sub-seeded runners (401-900): To qualify for the seeded or subseeded divisions, submit official written results from a USA Track and Field, RRCA, IAAF, Scholastic or Collegiate sanctioned race held on or after May 16, 1999. Performance in last year's Examiner Bay to Breakers is eligible.

    Verification must be stapled to entry form and be received no later than April 15, 2000.

    Seeded positions will be assigned to the first 350 fastest times received. Sub-seeded positions will be assigned to the next 500 fastest times received. All others will be categorized as fun runners. Applicants without proof of qualifying time will be processed as fun runners.

    See table for qualifying times. Because times must be verified by Breakers staff, online registration for sub-seeded runners is not available.

    SEEDED AND SUB-SEEDED RUNNERS, PLEASE NOTE: Seeded and sub-seeded runners must enter the start line at Mission and Main streets before 7 a.m. on race day.

    Seeded runners only must check in at the table on the corner of Howard and Main streets across from the RV.

    Once runner numbers are marked, seeded runners will be required to stay in the confined area. Leaving the area will result in disqualification.

    Only elite or seeded runners are eligible to win prizes.

    Sweats will not be transported from the start to the finish for seeded or sub-seeded athletes.
