Beginning at 6 a.m. on May 21 the Embarcadero Center garages will make available 2,000 free parking spaces near the starting line. Upon exiting you must show your runner number card to receive free parking.

Caltrain has regular one-way fares and a weekend pass. The northbound special train departs the San Jose Diridon Station at 5:30 a.m. with stops along the Peninsula, arriving San Francisco at 7:15 a.m.

Passengers may return on any of Caltrain's regular Sunday trains (noon, 2 p.m. or 4 p.m.) or return on the southbound special train, departing the Caltrain depot at 1:00 p.m.

Round-trip tickets can be purchased in advance at open Caltrain stations or on board.

Runners who pay an additional $5.00 upon registration will receive a sticker on their runner number card entitling them to ride on all Muni vehicles including special express lines from 5:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Stickers will be for sale at the Breakers Expo and at Footstock.

Special MUNI Express Buses To The Starting Line: Fulton Street and 47th Avenue along the "5-Fulton" line from 5:45 a.m. - 8 a.m. with local stops from 47th Avenue to Masonic Street and then express from Masonic Street to the starting area.

"N-JUDAH" line from Judah Street and 48th Avenue from 5:45 a.m. - 8 a.m. with local stops from 48th Avenue to Cole Street, then express from Cole Street to the starting area.

MUNI Metro will run from West Portal Station to Embarcadero with stops at Forest Hill Avenue, Castro Street, Church Street and Van Ness Avenue from 5:30 a.m. - 8 a.m.

The MUNI metro will operate at 6 a.m. between the Caltrain Depot and the starting area.

After The Race: Special MUNI Express buses will pick up riders at Middle Drive and Metson Road just south of the south tunnel of the Polo Field (Footstock) and express back to the starting area with intermediate stops on Masonic Street, Turk Street, and on Bush Street at Fillmore Street, Van Ness Avenue and Powell Street.

SamTrans will run three express routes departing from various stops from Palo Alto through San Bruno.

Buses will drop off runners close to the starting line and pick them up on Sunset Boulevard, south of Irving Street

The last bus departs from Sunset Boulevard, at noon. Round-trip fare is $8. Reservations are encouraged.

Alameda/Oakland Ferry

There will be two special ferry runs on race day.

The first departs from Oakland's Jack London Square Clay Street terminal at 6:45 a.m. The second departs from Alameda's Main Street terminal at 7 a.m. Both arrive at the San Francisco Ferry Building at approximately 7:25 a.m.

Return trips to the East Bay depart the Ferry Building at 12 p.m., 1:35 p.m., 3:15 p.m., 4:50 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 8:10 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.

One-way fares: $4.75 for adults; $2.00 for children (5-12); $3.00 for seniors/disabled; children under 5 travel free.

Vallejo Baylink Ferry

The Vallejo ferry departs from the Vallejo terminal located at 495 Mare Island Way at 6:30 a.m. and arrives at San Francisco's Ferry Building at 7:30 a.m.

The return ferry will maintain its regular schedule of weekend return trips to Vallejo from the ferry building and Pier 41 at Fishermanís Wharf. Please call (707) 64-FERRY for departure times.

One way fares: $8.00 for adults and seniors (62+yrs./disabled); $4.00 for children (5-12 yrs.); children under 5 travel free. Day Pass available for all day travel for $12.00. Fares subject to change.

Golden Gate Ferry

Golden Gate Ferry will be providing four additional ferries departing from the Larkspur Ferry Terminal at 6 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 7 a.m., and 7:45 a.m. arriving at the San Francisco Ferry Building at 6:45 a.m., 7:15 a.m., 7:45 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. respectively.

Return ferry service from San Francisco to Larkspur will operate hourly from 8:45 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. and at 4:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, May 1 at the Larkspur and San Francisco Ferry Terminals. Advance ticket purchase encouraged.

One-way fare: $4.80 children 5 and under travel free.

No discount tickets are accepted

Charter Buses
Charter buses must park along Sunset Boulevard south of Irving (see map) parallel to Sunset Boulevard. Buses must park in curb lane, leaving intersection clear. In case of an emergency, the San Francisco Police Department requires that drivers remain with the buses while they are parked. No picnics or barbecues allowed.

Street Closures
The Embarcadero will remain open in both directions at all times. 19th Avenue (Cross Over Drive) will remain open in both directions at all times.

  • Between Mission and Folsom: Steuart, Spear, Main, Beale, Fremont, First, Second, New Montgomery and Hawthorne Streets closed from 12:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

  • Howard Street Between Steuart and Third closed from 12:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

  • Howard between 3rd and 9th closed from 7:50 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

  • 9th between Howard and Hayes closed from 8:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.

  • Hayes (Larkin) between Market and Divisadero closed from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

  • Divisadero between Hayes and Fell closed from 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

  • Fell between Divisadero and Stanyan closed from 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

  • JFK between Stanyan and The Great Highway closed from 8:00 a.m . - 12 noon
